OPTION 1
Example price: 28 page magazine, A5 size, 500 copies including delivery £862
This full package includes a day visit to your school by members of our team. They will work with your students to decide on the best stories and other content, help them with interviewing and writing, and give them a taste of designing their work with industry software. STUDENT NUMBERS We like to work with between 25-30 students on the day and these are usually selected by yourselves from all year groups. This can be flexible, however, the aim is for all students in the school to have the opportunity to contribute by sending in their own stories and content, regardless of whether they take part in the actual day. HOW THE DAY WORKS We will hold a news conference where story ideas are discussed. The students will then work with the journalists on their stories. Some will help students with photographs for the pages. As stories are finished the students then assist in the production of the pages using Adobe InDesign software. PRESS CONFERENCE During the morning we usually hold a press conference with the head teacher or another member of the senior management team, in which students ask questions about the stories they are writing and use the comments in the articles. Your students will decide which is the best story of the day to go on the front page. They may also decide on the name of the paper too. The rest of the day is spent finishing stories and checking for errors. Talks, presentations, shorthand tuition and news quizzes may also form part of the day if time allows. FINISHING YOUR MAGAZINE Following the day, our team will finish all your pages, include any extra content that you want and send the proofs to the school for approval. Schools often prefer to edit the pages themselves. Editing and proof reading is a good exercise for students, as it emphasises accuracy, spelling, punctuation and grammar. We can do this for you for an additional charge. DELIVERY Once your school has signed off the magazine, we will have it printed* and delivered back to you. All you have to decide is how many pages and copies you would like. The most popular option is 32 pages of A4 size and as a guide we advise schools to allow two copies per student plus an extra 250 for distribution to the rest of your school community. FREE DIGITAL EDITION A free digital edition of the magazine is also sent to you.
OPTION 2
Example price: 32 page magazine, A4 size, 1000 copies including delivery £718
This is the same magazine production process as Option One but without a full day visit to your school by our team. STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE This package includes a short 1 to 2 hour visit to your school to get you started on the project. This gives you an introduction to the project and what it entails. I will then talk to students about their ideas for the publication and give a step-by-step guide to the entire process of producing a magazine and detailed advice to get them inspired. In addition, there will be online help guides available to assist you and your students. CONTIUING SUPPORT Following the visit, members of my team and I will be available for online help via email, phone or Microsoft Teams to answer any queries but also to check on progress. The school will then send completed stories through to us and we will design your magazine pages, following any specific instructions on placement, headlines and photos. These completed pages will be sent to you for checking and editing as again schools often prefer to do this themselves. Editing and proof reading is a good exercise for students, as it emphasises accuracy, spelling, punctuation and grammar. We can do this for you for an additional charge. Once all corrections and final pages have been signed off by yourselves, we send the pages to the printers and your completed magazine will be delivered to school a few days later. FREE DIGITAL EDITION A free digital edition of the magazine is also sent to you.
OPTION 3
Example price: 24 page magazine, A5 size, 500 copies including delivery £638
This is the same magazine production process as Option One and Two but everything is done remotely. Our third option is an entirely remote package. This works well for schools who are keen to produce a magazine and showcase their students’ work and are happy to run the day themselves but leave us to take care of the production and delivery of the final publication direct to the school. EVERYTHING DONE FOR YOU With this option, schools send us all the material (stories, opinion pieces, pictures and graphics) and we produce the finished magazine for you. Again we will follow your instructions on content and how it is used, sending you completed pages to check over. Once the entire magazine has been approved, we will have it professionally printed and delivered to your school. FREE DIGITAL EDITION A free digital edition of the magazine is also sent to you.
